Delivering the insights and tools you need to make an impact to digital emissions.

Our work

DIMPACT is a "think and do" coalition, working to align industry and policymakers around rigorous, science-based solutions that reduce the environmental impacts of digital media products.

We do this by:

Developing industry-specific tools, data and methodologies.
Creating a space for pre-competitive cross-industry collaboration.
Catalysing and amplifying the development of best practices to further reduce digital media emissions.
Using these insights to inform smart policy.

Think - Industry tools and knowledge

DIMPACT Digital Emissions Tool
The DIMPACT tool supports companies to implement our methodology and assess the emissions of their digital products and services. It's a web application that standardises the scope and boundaries between companies, and supports company-specific data collection.
Research and education
Targeted insights and research exploring the digital emissions and streaming issues. We are supported in building a robust knowledge base through our partnership with leading academic institution, the University of Bristol.

Do - Collaborative Forum

Cross industry working groups
Equipped with the knowledge and understanding about digital emissions, we share learnings, highlight innovations and catalyse action through our working groups and industry engagement.
Forum industry engagement
We engage with industry to advance the discourse and align on the latest thinking. We are actively involved as an Industry Consult partner in the Media Sustainability Framework development for the advertising industry, & engage with groups looking at digital emissions.

Annual Work Plan

The Work Plan is set on an annual basis and is a collaborative programme led by participants and SLR. Each year it is updated in agreement with participants to set the strategic priorities and focus areas of work.

The Annual Work Plan includes:

Annual meeting, a session of interactive sessions, learning and networking.
Working Group focus, past WGs have included a focus on Devices, Artificial Intelligence, Advertising, Publishing and Cloud, Distribution and CDN.
Updates to the DIMPACT Emissions tool.
Specific projects to advance the knowledge and priorities of the DIMPACT participants.

We publish updates on our workplan, including summaries of working group discussion, found in our resources.
